There's a lot going on around here. It's been a tough and good week for Chosen and our Waiting Mamas group. We had two placements that were born within hours of each other. On Tuesday it looked like both of them fell thru. Come Wednesday, one of them ended up turning around for the better. So my emotions have been all over the place as I walked thru these intense situations with dear dear friends. So today as we celebrate one adoption and homecoming, we also grieve with another family as they adjust to a new normal.
At home I am feeling like I can get more stuff done since Emery's arrival. You know, like the house is usually clean, laundry done, rooms picked up...really just the basics but it feels monumental right now. We have been really blessed by meals from the wives of all of the guys Blake works with. How cool is that? It's been a HUGE blessing to not have to cook for the last two weeks!
All of the kids seem to be changing right before our eyes...
But the one that seems to have changed the most is Sadie. Most of you have commented on how big she looks in the pictures, but that is not all that has changed. She is talking more, singing constantly, dances, obsessed with shoes (won't even sleep or swim without shoes on), loves anything girly (purses, bows, bracelets, sunglasses and the latest is tutus), her appetite has increased, she likes to sit on the potty, she LOVES her sister and when she cries she wants to soothe her with a paci or some violent rocking (we have to watch her closely!), she loves everyone and any animal brings a shrill squeal, she has facial expressions that make us roll and she LOVES to be the center of attention. This girl is a ham, a pistol and a princess all wrapped into one GORGEOUS package. Basically, Blake and I are scared to death. No lie...ever so glad she has two big brothers.
Somehow, the baby is 6 weeks old. She was pushing 8 lbs last week, so I am sure she has tipped the scales this week. She is SO much more content this week and "talking" and smiling and no lie...she screams. Nothing ear piercing or like she's ticked off, but the baby can squeal and then just sit there like she didn't do anything. It cracks us up. We love getting to see that she already has so much personality! She is reaching for toys, turning her head to see who is around her and reaching to touch faces. She loves baths and her bouncy seat. She is pretty easy going unless you lie her flat on her back. Then she'll give it to ya.
Check out those cheeks and double chin!!!
Check out those cheeks and double chin!!!
At her last check up we showed her belly button to our ped and he was concerned somewhat. Hers is herniated, which happens, but hers doesn't stick straight out and therefore can "cut off" the bowels. He said if it gets any worse we'll need to see a general surgeon. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that's had to do this with their baby? We've had lots of friend whose kids have umbilical hernias, but they all grew out of them around 3. You can see it in the bath tub pic. Poor Emme!
Okay...that's all for now. Gotta take a nap while the kids are out!
Eating lunch while watching a movie. We call these picnics too cuz its WAY hot right now in Oklahoma!

My kids are never dressed either! The sad thing is when we go to OTHER people's homes and they want to take their pants off.
