"So promise me you'll never forget...that you aren't an accident or an incident...you are a gift to the world, a divine work of art, signed by God. You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on this earth...Flooded by emotion, overcome by pride, the Starmaker turns to us, one by one, and says, 'You are my child. I love you dearly.'" Max Lucado, God Thinks You're Wonderful

I am 3

When you look at the pictures below...you will find that I am 3 years old. Surely I am not mature enough to have 4 kids if I find flarp hilarious. Yes, I did this. And it was a hit. Flarp is $1 at WalMart and it made day 3 in our shoebox a riot. Judge me, I don't mind. I know...I will pay later when my precious 2 year old princess laughs at her own tooties. Oh wait, she already does that. Her brothers taught her. Seriously, they had so much fun. Cooper cannot quit kissing this pumpkin. It's hilarious. He was the same way with Sadie and it's so sweet. Not that Owen and Sadie don't clobber her too, but with Cooper it's non-stop. So what do you do when you don't have a bathtub? You bathe your babies in the sink, right? She LOVED it. She pretty much never gets a bath by herself...so this was fun for her to get some alone time. Blake's schedule has been incredible. I mean seriously...we are so blessed to be here and get to see him more! So today, I begged him to take us to town (we are staying in Aspen, but north of main street so we don't see any action). We went to one of the parks we found last year and had a blast despite the cold weather.

Bedtime stories. All 4 kids are sharing one room. We are having a bit of a time adjusting to this as one child in particular thinks this is a slumber party and is keeping the others awake. We are praying that they will adjust in time. We welcome any ideas/tips though!
As a part of "school" and a science experiment we made pudding popsicles. So fun!
They were a hit after dinner tonight!

Another school activity. We made a Valentine's Day chain. The kids had a blast talking about all the people we love in our lives.
The kids have actually had a lot of fun doing school at home. I am not sure I am any good at this or that I am teaching them anything...but it sure is fun for all of us. Thanks to my precious MIL for putting together a tub of everything I would need. Wow, it's making our days so much fun!
Sadie doing watercolor. She later drank the water while I was changing Emery's diaper. Sweet. I knew there was a risk in bringing out the paints with Sadie, but I thought it was more that she might paint herself or the wall...wow girl. You crack me up!

Hi Molly!

I am a long time follower, although I have never commented before.

I saw that you are back in Aspen! We just moved away from there - actually we were in the midst of moving when you were here last year. Not very many people believe it, but "normal" (as in not zillionaires!) people actually live in Aspen year round too- my husband was a police office for Aspen Police Department and I worked for a local non profit. We just recently moved away from Aspen because my husband got a new job, but we absolutely love the town and miss it a great deal. I know Aspen is not the most kid-friendly town (my mom friends joke that kids don't exist in Aspen until they can ski) so I wanted to send you a list of some of the "locals" favorite places.

Aspen Rec Center- Locals call it the ARC (like, ark). Expensive for visitors (like everything else in Aspen), but an amazing place to spend the day with energy filled kids. Huge indoor pool, rock climbing wall, ice skating rink. You will find tons of local families here every day of the week. You can get a monthly family pass or a punch pass while you are visiting. It is worth checking out. Plus they have the best sledding hill in town. http://www.aspenrecreation.com/aspen-recreation-centers/aspen-recreation-center/

Pitkin County Library- Good library in town (by the courthouse), kids story time and good kids section downstairs. http://www.pitcolib.org/page_136

Wyly Art Center - The Wyly is in Basalt (20 min from Aspen)- they have art classes for kids and sometimes have family days. http://www.wylyarts.org/about

El Jebowl- Bowling Alley in El Jebel (across from the City Market, behind the Wendys.) Its a 25ish minute drive outside Aspen but worth the drive. Fun fact: Princess Diana took Willam and Harry bowling there on a visit to Aspen a looong time ago.

Glenwood Caverns - The caverns are located in Glenwood Springs (an hour-ish from Aspen). Amazing caves built into the mountain- you take a gondola to get up there and get to tour the caves. Your boys would absolutely love it. Glenwood Springs is also fun to explore if you have some time on your hands or a free day. http://glenwoodcaverns.com/

I'm sure you have already figured out that the grocery stores in Aspen are terrible. So cramped and hard to maneuver. The City Market in El Jebel is much bigger and has better prices and selection.

The Aspen bus system (RFTA) is great and free anywhere in town. Great way to avoid parking in town. Their website shows their schedules and routes http://www.rfta.com/

Some reasonably priced family friendly restaurants are: Hickory House, The Cantina, and Boogies Diner.

Anyway, this is a lot of unsolicited advice for one comment so I will stop, but if you want any more "local" advice, please please please just let me know. My email is nicolegburg (at) gmail (dot) com (just replace the at and dot with the symbols). I hope you and your beautiful family are enjoying your time there! It really is a great place.

I LOVE seeing pics of your kiddos and YOU sweet momma. And seriously, flarp is hilarious. If you're immature, then so am I. If you can't have a sense of humor with kids, then motherhood just isn't as enjoyable. Looks like you guys are enjoying Blake's schedule (SO excited to hear that!) and the new environment. love love love u
