But as I write that, I realize how fortunate I am that my husband isn't overseas fighting for my freedom. There are several far worse jobs that I can think of with worse hours and little safety!
He's in the same city, and safe and at some point will sleep next to me at night.
I also realize that I am fortunate to have him at all.
I am blessed to have an incredible marriage and enjoy spending everyday with my best friend.
I am blessed to call myself a Shockley!
So, as sad as I am that his hours will be over 90 per week, I have a million things to be thankful for.
Please remind me of this if I get crabby! Don't let me complain!
Here are some pics from this week...Blake took two days off to spend with us before the poo starts!
Thursday we drove to Tulsa to see my family...got some sweet pictures of cousin Sutton loving on Sadie!
Blake took the boys to ride the Amtrak from Oklahoma City to Purcell.
Boy did they have fun! It was only $16 for all 3 of them to ride for the 40 minute trip! Not something we'd do everyday, but what a great treat for boys!
We love you Blake! You are the best daddy in the world and you make us feel so loved and important in your life. We love how you come home as soon as you possibly can to hang out with us. We are sad and will miss you deeply, but know that's only because you're so stinking fun to be with! See you in May!

Um...okay - that last picture of Sissy is TO DIE FOR! Look at those legs.....are those the cutest legs EVER???? LOVE the outfit! Sorry about Blake...but remember he gets paid the big bucks for this.....oh wait! Man you are getting ripped! It will be over before you know it! Love you - hope we get to see you a lot...we will b/c we will be living with mom and dad!
I cannot even begin to comment on all the cuteness I see in this post...Sadie's precious smile, outfits, and bows, Cooper's wink, Blake and his boys on a train ride...they must have loved that. He is such a great daddy! Maybe since he'll be working so much, me and the kids will have to make a trip to Edmond to keep you company one day...and hopefully you'll make it to Tulsa for some play dates. You are such a great momma! Love yiu!
Tony was just telling me the other day that he takes his nephews on a "transportation" day where they go on a bus, taxi, etc and let the boys see all of the different ways to get around. What a great idea you had too! Looks like they had a blast...
And the picture of Sadie with the adorable bow, outfit and leggings! Gosh, I just can't get enough....
The pictures of Sutton & Sadie crack me up! What was he doing with his hand over her mouth? And I noticed his blanket wrapped around her....he was trying to take good care of her! LOVE IT!
And lastly, you do have an amazing husband. I enjoy watching you all parent together, and enjoy being married to one another. Not everyone can do it as seamlessly, and respectfully, as you two do! I'm still learning from you little sister!
Love you bunches....
Hey girl! From one "widow" to another, i feel your pain. Now with David's new job it hasn't been too bad, but I know that it won't last for long! When David was in his pooh time he would work 70-80 hours a week, and go days without seeing the kids. Very hard, especially when he went to Houston last year. It is hard to remember the blessings, but as you know a necessity. Also, I kept telling myself I got the good end of the stick, I was home, in my bed with my kids, he was the one who was gone. Love you..hang in there. Oh, and I will be praying for your friend.
Okay, seriously...could your children get ANY cuter? Each picture of Sadie gets cuter than the last...that is what I love about infants :)! My inlaws took Ella and Ty on that train ride last summer when Micah and I were in Mexico. How fun!
I am sorry that Blake is going to be working so much in the next few months. The good thing is that you are going to miss him! Can you imagine having the kind of husband or father to your children that wasn't involved, loving, and fun to be around? It kinda makes you appreciate the man you are married to, huh?!
Come to Tulsa and play with us, I only have a few more weeks to stock up on pink loveliness before Tess arrives! HA!
yuck for you, the kids AND blake! i can't even imagine it. i hope this time flies by for you all. i LOVE all of the pictures of your adorable kids. and sadie looks like one happy girl!
Hi, I came over from Cara Canada's blog and have been reading your blog today. OH HOW CUTE YOUR LIL' FAMILY IS! What a blessing you and your husband are to your children, as well as a blessing they are to you!
That sweet Sadie smile! Her and Turner definately have to marry one day! :) I will be saying extra prayers for you that the next 11 weeks fly by and May will be here before you know it!
I'm sad for you and Blake, but happy that means we'll get to hang out more. Call me and let's make a play date.
It has to be sooo hard when you are not used to his being gone so much. At least with Keith, we know that he'll be gone 3-4 days at a time, a couple of weeks each month. We kind of find our rhythm. I'll be praying for you to find (or make) yours for the next few months!
Your family is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Marianne (Micah's mom)
I don't know how I missed this post as I am now an official "blog stalker"! Are those "baby legs" Sadie is wearing??? They didn't have those 13 years ago when my girly was a baby! I can't wait to have chunky monkey legs around here to wear them! Sorry about Blake...it's just a season and you know he will miss you as much as you miss him!
